EP Review: The Young Hearts – The Good, The Bad, & The Rest Of Us (Self Released)
With their forthcoming new EP ‘The Good, The Bad & The Rest of Us’, punk rockers The Young Hearts continue their deeply personal journey through life, change, and resilience. It will be released on June 12th, 2025.
A thoughtful take on growing up, dealing with challenges, and navigating this thing called life through the medium of infectious pop-infused punk rock. The Young Hearts’ new EP is really likable, and not just because they pour so much heart and soul into it, although that’s one hell of a reason to fall for it.
No, what makes this EP extra special is the fact that it is relatable and catchy. We’re all clinging to this rock, hurtling through space, moving closer to the end, and hoping that each new day will be brighter then the last. That might sound depressing, but it’s reality and a major part of growing up, and we’re all going through it. Life isn’t futile though, it’s wonderful and sometimes because music can speak to your soul. Which is what this EP does.
Featuring five heartfelt, thought-provoking, meaningful, and infectious efforts that have a comforting familiarity to them (depending on your age). I found myself listening to it over and over again, struggling to pick a favourite, just enjoying the vibes, and feeling a mix of nostalgia, wistfulness, and joy. That’s a damn fine job this band has done, I think.
