EP Review: Gama Bomb – Necronomicon Automaton (Prosthetic Records)

You know ‘em, you love em’, it’s Gama Bomb and they’re back with a brand-new EP called ‘Necronomicon Automaton’. Set for release on April 18th via Prosthetic Records, this EP features four songs that came from the recording sessions around their latest album ‘Bats’ (released Nov 10th, 2023). Four extra songs that were simply too good to never see the light of day.

The EP covers a lot of serious subjects, such as the dangers of nunchucks, Victorian robots and scaring your sweet ol’ mum half to death with heavy metal.

Considering the quality of Bats (read our review here), it’s no surprise that there were some tracks that never quite made the final cut. However, don’t be under any false illusions that these tracks didn’t make the cut because they just weren’t good enough. Far from it, what we have are four more lovable thrashy and cheeky head bangers.

Beginning with a frenzied blast of noise that warns about the dangers of nunchucks in classic Gama Bomb style. It’s Nunchuks! and it is a blast of boisterous fun. Intror the Deceiver comes next and delivers some of that old school heavy metal sound that never gets old, wild guitar soloing included of course. Then there is Necropanzer, a thrilling riff-driven blast with some elevated vocal touches. Before this fun Gama Bomb record wraps up with the title track and even more energised thrashy reasons to put this EP up there alongside the best of what they’ve released in recent times.

Gama Bomb – Necronomicon Automaton Track Listing:

1. Nunchuks!
2. Intror the Deceiver
